International Merchandise Trade April 2026

KINGSTON, July 29, 2026: For the period January to April 2026, Jamaica’s total spending on imports was valued at US$2,502.4 million, while earnings from total exports were valued at US$547.4 million, as released today by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN).

The value of imports increased by 0.9 per cent when compared to US$2,479.5 million earned in the corresponding 2025 period. This increase was driven by higher expenditure on Raw Materials/Intermediate Goods and Capital Goods (excl. Motor Cars), which grew by 5.6 per cent and 7.7 per cent, respectively. Total exports for the January to April 2026 period was 10.6 per cent lower than the US$612.5 million earned in the similar 2025 review period. This decline was primarily due to a 41.2 per cent fall in the value of Crude Materials (Excl. Fuels).

MAIN TRADING PARTNERS

The five main import trading partners for the period January to April 2026 were the United States of America (USA), China, Brazil, Japan and Trinidad and Tobago. Expenditure on imports of goods from these countries amounted to US$1,647.1 million, reflecting an increase of 8.9 per cent when compared to US$1,512.5 million recorded for January to April 2025. The top five destinations for Jamaica’s exports were the USA, the Russian Federation, the Netherlands, Canada and the United Kingdom. Export revenues from these countries increased by 3.0 per cent to US$415.9 million, up from US$403.8 million earned in 2025.
