Dear Importer:
In an effort to farther enhance food safety and traceability of foods being imported into Jamaica, effective immediately all veterinary import permit applications for fresh, frozen, salted and canned fishery products will be held pending the submission of documentation to include the country and establishment of origin and copy of health certification for products intended for import.
Further, consignments of fishery products being imported from the United States of America must have been legally imported into the United States of America and must be accompanied by a certified copy of the original health certificate from the county of origin and by a UDC Certificate. The health certificate from the country of origin must indicate the processing facility where the fish was processed and must be an EU or FDA approved facility.
Consignments which are not in compliance with this current policy will be seized and destroyed at the importers expense.
